The Space Shuttle Challenger exploded.
I remember that I was in 2nd grade at Grovecrest Elementary in Miss Ellerman's class. All of the 2nd grade students had gone into one classroom to watch the shuttle launch.
I can't really remember what happened after the explosion. But I will never forget that day.
I showed this to my kids when they got home from school today. It was such a sad day for those who died and their families but also a brave day knowing that Americans were willing to risk their lives for our knowledge of space exploration. I hope they will appreciate the sacrifice the astronauts made that day.
