Thanks to our recent assembly presented by Scales and Tails, my kids were able to identify this Scorpion as deadly one while we were on vacation in Mexico a couple of weeks ago.
Luckily, it had already suffered its fate and was found dead upon identification. My son Jackson said he learned from the assembly that big Scorpions are non-poisonous, while the small ones are deadly. We showed the Scorpion to a local who confirmed that this puppy was indeed life threatening. Thank you to Scales and Tails and to my kids for paying attention to these life saving Scorpion facts. My nerves were eased a little, until we came across this poisonous Jellyfish on the beach.
Another little fact we learned was that Jellyfish are poisonous whether they're dead or alive.
Needless to say, I slept with one eye open for the Scorpions and wore shoes on the beach to prevent a Jellyfish sting. We also made friends with many Iguanas...
And a weird animal we affectionately referred to as, The Varmint.
All of the insects, animals and sea life on this vacation certainly made it an interesting experience!
