Bored

I don't like hearing the word, "bored" during the summer. I keep reminding my kids that the pioneers only had sticks and rocks to play with. If you haven't already, it may be time to pull out the arsenal of summer time crafts:

Watercolor Salt
Materials:
White glue in a bottle
Watercolor paint box with brush
Jar of water
Any paper (white is best)
Salt in a spout container
Empty Cup
Process:
Draw with white glue from bottle
Pour salt on glue drawing
Pour extra salt from drawing into a cup to be used for other drawings with glue
Paint saalt and glue with watercolor paint, using a minimum of water
Rinse brush between colors
Allow to dry

World's Best Bubbles
2 1/2 quarts water
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1 cup liquid dish detergent
Mix water and corn syrup together until completely blended
Gently stir in the liquid dish detergent
Store for several weeks in an airtight container
*Add a little color to your bubbles by stirring a few drops of food coloring. Create bubbles in many different sizes by dipping various items such as a plastic strawberry basket or wire whisk into bubble solution.

Cotton Dough
1 cup flour
3/4 to 1 cup water
1 bag small cotton balls
Bowl
Cookie Sheet
Mix flour and water in bowl until it's a smooth texture
Coat cotton balls in paste (they tend to puff up and stay if handled gently)
Allow excess mixture to fall off each ball
Form balls into desired shapes
Place on cookie sheet
Bake at 325 for 1 hour, until lightly browned and hard

Glue Dough
1 cup flour
1 cup cornstarch
1/2 cup white glue
Water
Bowl
Mix flour, cornstarch and glue in bowl
Add water as needed
Knead until workable
Model and explore dough freely
